Matthew 5
When Yeshua saw the crowd, he went up the mountain, and when he sat down his talmidim* drew near to him. 2 He opened his mouth and was teaching them, and said:

3 “Blessed are they who are poor in spirit, because theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. *

4 Blessed are they who are mourning, because they will be comforted. *

5 Blessed are they who are meek, because they will inherit the earth. *

6 Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be satisfied.

7 Blessed are they who are merciful, because upon them will [there] be mercies.

8 Blessed are they who are pure in their hearts, because they will see God.

9 Blessed are they who make peace, because they will be called the sons of God.

10 Blessed are they who have been persecuted for righteousness, because theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

11 “Blessed are you whenever they curse you, and [whenever] they persecute you, and they say every kind of evil word about you falsely, because of me.

12 Then rejoice, and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. For likewise they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if that salt should become tasteless, with what would it be seasoned? Then it is not fit for anything, but to be thrown outside and trodden by man. 14 You are the light of the world. It is not possible to hide a city that is built on a mountain. 15 Do not light a lamp, and put it under a bushel basket, but on a lampstand; and it shines on all that are in the house. Likewise, let your light shine in front of the sons of men; 16 that they should see your good works, and they glorify your Father who is in heaven.

17 “Do not think that I came to dismiss the Torah or the Prophets. I have not come to dismiss, but to carry out. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one smallest letter * or one stroke * shall pass away from the Torah, until everything happens. 19 Therefore, anyone who dismisses one of these small commandments, and thus teach the sons of men to do so, will be called little in the Kingdom of Heaven; but those who do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I say to you that unless your righteousness exceeds more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

21 “You have heard that it was said to those in the past, ‘You shall not murder;’* and ‘Whoever shall murder shall be condemned to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you, that anyone who provokes his brother to anger without a cause * is condemned to judgment; and anyone who should say to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing *!’ is condemned to the assembly; and anyone who should say, ‘You are a coward!’ is condemned to the fire of Gehinnom. *

23 “If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and remember that your brother holds a grudge against you, 24 leave your offering there upon the altar, and first go to be reconciled with your brother, and then come offer your offering; for it is a great sin to cause distress to the spirit of your brother. 25 Be in agreement with your adversary at law quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest your adversary at law deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be thrown into the house of captives. 26 Truly I say to you, that you will not come out from there, until you pay the last penny. * 27 “You have heard that it has been said, * ‘You shall not commit adultery;’ * 28 but I say to you that all who looks at a woman as lusting has immediately committed adultery in his heart. 29 If your right eye stumbles, pluck it out and cast it away from you. For it is better for you that one of your members should perish, than for your entire body to be cast into Gehinnom. * 30 If your right hand stumbles you, cut it off, and cast it away from you. For it is better for you that one of your members should perish, than for your entire body to be cast into Gehinnom. *

31 “It has been said that, ‘He who puts away his wife, shall give a certificate of divorce to her,’ * 32 but I say to you that anyone who puts away his wife, except for the case of fornication, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

33 “Again you have heard that it has been said to those before you that ‘You shall not lie in your oath, but complete your oath to Mar-Yah,’ 34 but I say to you, you should not say ‘I swear’: not by heaven, because it is the throne of God; 35 and not by the earth, because it is the footstool that is beneath his feet; and not by Yerushalayim, because it is the city of the great King, 36 and you should not swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black. 37 But your word ‘Yes’ should be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ should be ‘No.’ Anything that is more than this is of evil.

38 “You have heard that it has been said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ * 39 But I say to you, that you should not stand against evil; but he who strikes you against your right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And anyone who desires to go to court to take your coat, leave him your cloak also. 41 He that compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 He that asks you to give to him, you should not deny him who desires to borrow from you.

43 “You have heard that it has been said that ‘You shall love your neighbour, * and hate your enemy. * ‘ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those that curse you, and do that which is pleasing to those who hate you and pray for those that take you by force and persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven – He that raises His sun upon the good and upon the evil, and causes His rain to descend upon the just and upon the unjust. 46 For if you love only those that love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the publicans do this? 47 If you only greet your brothers in peace, what more are you doing? Do not even the publicans do this? 48 Therefore you should become perfect, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

James 5
1 Those of you with riches stored up, you should be wailing and weeping due to the troubles that are coming upon you. 2 For your riches have become spoiled and have begun to smell; and your garments are full of holes, being consumed by moths. 3 Your gold and your silver have become covered with corrosion; and its corrosion will be a witness against you, and it will consume your flesh. Such a great fire will you have blazing against you in the last days. 4 Behold, the wages of the labourers who worked in your fields, which you have wrongfully kept for yourself, cries out; and the crying of the reapers has entered the ears of Mar-Yah Tzivaoth. 5 For you have lived in pleasure on the earth, and revelled, and filled your bodies as in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the tzadikim, and none of them were able to stand against your strength. 7 But, my brethren, be patient until the coming of Mar-Yah; be patient like the caretaker of the field who waits for the precious fruits of his soil and is patient until he receives the early and the latter rain. 8 You too should be patient in like this and strengthen your hearts; for the coming of Maran is close.

9 My brethren, do not be grumbling against one another because indeed you will be judged: for look! The judgment is at the door. 10 My brethren, for patience in your afflictions look to the example of the prophets who spoke in the Name of Mar-Yah. 11 For look, we ascribe blessedness to them who have borne suffering. You have heard of the patience of Iyov, and you have seen the result that Mar-Yah brought about for him – for Mar-Yah is full of mercy and compassion.

12 My brethren, above all things, discontinue making false oaths; neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath, but let your determination be steadfast; unless you do this you will become subject to the judgment.

13 And if any of you shall have afflictions, let him pray; or if he is joyous, let him sing Tehillim. 14 And if he is sick, let him call for the older ones of the congregation; and let them pray for him, and anoint him with oil in the Name of Maran; 15 and by the prayer of faith he will be healed from his illness, and Maran will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.

16 And confess your sins to Alaha, to one another, to the older ones of the congregation, and pray for another, that you may be healed; for great is the power of the prayer of the tzadik. 17 Eliyahu also was a man like us, and he prayed that rain might not descend upon the earth; and it did not descend for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again and the heavens gave forth rain, and the earth gave forth its fruits.

19 My brethren, if one of you stray from the Way of Truth, and any one assists him from turning from such error, 20 let him know that he who turns the sinner from the error of his way will receive reward for his soul and will not see death, and will cover the multitude of his sins, provided he himself does not stray from the truth.

Ode 8
1 Open your ears, and I shall speak to you.

2 Give me yourself, so that I may give you myself as well.

3 The word of Mar-Yah and His desires, the holy thought which He has thought concerning M’shikha.

4 For in the will of Mar-Yah is your life, and His purpose is eternal life, and your perfection is incorruptible.

5 Be enriched in Abba Alaha; and receive the purpose of the Most High. Be strong and redeemed by His grace.

6 For I announce peace to you, His holy ones, so that none of those who hear shall fall in the war.

7 And that those too who have known Him may not perish, and so that those who received Him may not be ashamed.

8 An everlasting crown is Truth; blessed are they who set it on their head.

9 It is a precious stone, for the wars were on account of the crown.

10 But Righteousness has taken it, and has given it to you.

11 Put on the crown in the true covenant of Mar-Yah, and all those who have conquered will be inscribed in His book.

12 For their book is the reward of victory which is for you, and she sees you before her and wills that you shall be saved. Halilu’Ya.
