Washing of the Hands

This blessing is not said immediately after arising from bed, but may be used at other times during the day. The reason is because we do not use the Name of God upon arising. If one wishes, he or she may use “Adonai” or the Aramaic “Alaha” instead, since these are titles rather than names of God.

Blessed are You, Mar-Yah our God, King of the Universe, who sanctifies us with His Commandments, and commands us concerning the washing of the hands.
