This morning after prayers and eating breakfast, Esteve and I counted the days starting with January first until we reached today, February 6. He added up the 31 day of January with the six days of February to gain the total of days that has come since New year of 2017 has occurred. This math activity can be found in Montessori Handbook appendix.
To give him a visual aid of the the counting the days of both months of January and the six days of February, I created a the addition equation, 31+6 on a sheet of graphing paper/quad paper. Which was actually written as :

I had him color the while counting thirty block of the graphing paper pink and for the a six additional blocks, he color them purple.
