Before Torah Reading

Matthew 5:17-20

Do not think that I came to dismiss the Torah or the Prophets. I have not come to dismiss, but to carry out. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one smallest letter or one stroke shall pass away from the Torah, until everything happens. Therefore, anyone who dismisses one of these small mitzvoth (Commandments), and thus teach the sons of men to do so, will be called little in the Kingdom of Heaven; but those who do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

When Removing Torah From Ark

When the Ark set out, Mosha would say: Arise, O AdonYah, and Your adversaries will be scattered, and Your enemies will flee before You. For from Zion shall go forth the Torah, and the Word of AdonYah from Jerusalem. Blessed is He who in His holiness gave Torah to His people Israel.

The Torah which Moshe commanded us is the heritage of congregation of Ya’aqub. (Kiss the Torah)

THE BOOK OF MATTHEW

CHAPTER 19

1 And when Jesus had ended these discourses, he removed from

Galilee, and came to

the confines of Judea on the other side of Jordan.

2 And great multitudes followed after him, and he healed them

there.

3 And Pharisees came to him, and tempted him

and said: Is it lawful for a m

an to

divorce his wife for any cause?

4 And he answered and said to them: Have you not read, that he who made them

at the

beginning, made them

a male and a female?

5 And he said: For this reason, a man shall l

eave his father and his mother, and adhere to

his wife; and they two shall be one flesh.

6 Therefore they were not two, but one flesh. What therefore God has united, let not

man separate.

7 They said to him: Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and

to put her away?

8 He said to them: Moses, on account of the hardness of your heart, permitted you to

divorce your wives: but from

the beginning it was not so.

9 And I say to you, That whoever leaves his wife not being an adulteress, and takes

another, commits adultery. And whoever takes her that is divorced, commits adultery.

10 His disciples said to him: If such is the case between man and wife, it is not practical

to take a wife.

11 But he said to them: Not every one is capable of that thing, but he only to whom

it is given.

12 For there are some eunuchs*, born so from

their mother’s womb; and there are some

eunuchs, who were made eunuchs by men; and there are some eunuchs who have made

them

selves eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom

of Heaven. He that can be comprehend

let him

comprehend.

13 Then they brought children to him, that he might lay his hand upon them

and pray.

And his disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said to them: Allow children to come to me, and do not forbid them; for of

those that are like them

is the kingdom

of heaven.

15 And he laid his hand upon them, and departed from

there.16 And one came, drew near, and said to him: Good Teacher, what good thing must I

do, that eternal life may be mine?

17 And he said to him: Why do you call me good?

There is none good, except one, God.

But if you would enter into life, keep the Commandments.

18 He said to him, Which?

And Jesus said to him: You shall not murder; and you shall

not commit adultery; and you shall not steal; and you shall not bear false testimony;

19 and honor your father and your mother; and you shall love you neighbor as yourself.

20 The young man says to him: All these I have kept from

my childhood. What do I

lack?

21 Jesus said to him: If you desire to be perfect, go, sell your property, and give to the

poor; and there shall be for you a treasure in heaven; and come after me.

22 And the young man heard that speech, and he went away in sadness; for he had much

property.

23 And Jesus said to his disciples: Truly I say to you, it is difficult for a rich man to

enter into the kingdom

of heaven.

24 And again, I say to you: It is easier for a rope to enter the eye of a needle, than for a

rich man to enter the Kingdom

of God.

25 And when the disciples heard this, they wondered greatly, and said: Who then can

gain life!

26 Jesus looked at them, and said to them: With men this is not possible, but with God

every thing is possible.

27 Then Cephas answered, and said to him: Behold, we have forsaken every thing, and

come after you: What therefore shall we receive?

28 Jesus said to them: Truly I say to you, that, as for you who have followed me, when

the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his

glory in the new world, you also shall sit on

twelve seats, and shall judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every man that leaves houses, or brothers or sisters, or father or mother, or

wife or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall

inherit eternal life.

30 But there are many first who shall be last, and last who shall be first.

*The word “eunuchs” can also be translated as “believers”.

Syriac Peshitto Matthew ch 19 Authorized use by +Mar Eshwan, Bishop

Gospel of Thomas v. 90-99

90) Jesus said, “Come unto me, for My yoke is easy and My
lordship is mild, and you will find repose for yourselves.”

91) They said to Him, “Tell us who You are so that we may
believe in You.”
He said to them, “You read the face of the sky and of the
earth, but you have not recognized the one who is before you, and
you do not know how to read this moment.”

92) Jesus said, “Seek and you will find. Yet, what you asked Me
about in former times and which I did not tell you then, now I do
desire to tell, but you do not enquire after it.”

93) “Do not give what is holy to dogs, lest they
throw them on the dung-heap. Do not throw the pearls to swine,
lest they grind it [to bits].”

94) Jesus [said], “He who seeks will find, and [he who knocks]
will be let in.”

95) [Jesus said,] “If you have money, do not lend it at
interest, but give [it] to one from whom you will not get it
back.”

96) Jesus [said], “The Kingdom of the Father is like a certain
woman. She took a little leaven, [concealed] it in some dough,
and made it into large loaves. Let him who has ears hear.”

97) Jesus said, “The Kingdom of the [Father] is like a certain
woman who was carrying a jar full of meal. While she was walking
[on] a road, still some distance from home, the handle of the jar
broke and the meal emptied out behind her on the road. She did
not realize it; she had noticed no accident. When she reached her
house, she set the jar down and found it empty.”

98) Jesus said, “The Kingdom of the Father is like a certain man
who wanted to kill a powerful man. In his own house he drew his
sword and stuck it into the wall in order to find out whether his
hand could carry through. Then he slew the powerful man.”

99) The disciples said to Him, “Your brothers and Your mother
are standing outside.”
He said to them, “Those here who do the will of My Father
are My brothers and My mother. It is they who will enter the
Kingdom of My Father.”

Ode Fourteen
1 As the sun is the joy of them who seek its daybreak, so is my joy the Lord;
2 Because He is my Sun, and His rays have lifted me up; and His light has dismissed all darkness from my face.
3 Eyes I have obtained in Him, and have seen His holy day.
4 Ears I have acquired, and have heard His truth.
5 The thought of knowledge I have acquired, and have enjoyed delight fully through Him.
6 I repudiated the way of error, and went towards Him and received salvation from Him abundantly.
7 And according to His generosity He gave to me, and according to His excellent beauty He made me.

8 I put on immortality through His name, and took off corruption by His grace.
9 Death has been destroyed before my face, and Sheol has been vanquished by my word.
10 And eternal life has arisen in the Lord’s land, and it has been declared to His faithful ones, and has been given without limit to all that trust in Him. Halleluyah.

After Scripture Reading

Psalm 119:18

Happy are they who are upright in the way, who walk in the Torah of AdonYah. Happy are they who keep His testimonies, that seek Him with the whole heart. They do no unrighteousness; they walk in His way. You have ordained Your precepts, that we should observe them diligently. Oh that my ways were directed to observe Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, when I have given diligence unto all Your mitzvoth. I will give thanks unto You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous ordinances. I will observe Your statutes; do not utterly forsake me.

Lord Yeshua, you who were brought forth by the very hand of God the Father, made known to the Blessed Mother Maryam, by the message of the angel Gabriel — I praise you, I thank you and I honour you with all my heart. It was you who said, ‘I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall not hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst.’ Grant unto the presence of the Spirit of holiness as you promised to your disciples, so that I may understand the Word of God and the Will of the Father for me. Amen.
