Angelus

Eustache_Le_SueurShlama lukh,

The “Angelus”, as it is known among Thomasines and some St. Thomas Christians, is traditionally prayed at 6:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and at 6:00 p.m., on weekdays. The term “Angelus” is taken from the first word of the Latin version of the prayer, “Angelus Domini nuntiavit MariƦ.

The Angelus is based on the Scriptures. Below you will find the passages which you are encouraged to search. Below that is the formal prayer as authorised for use among Thomasines and St. Thomas Christians. It differs slightly from the traditional Catholic version. If individuals of other RoL communities wish to recite the Angelus, it is certainly permissible.

May Alaha bless you,
Fr. Jonathan bar Stephen
